:: Her
Startling Resemblance ::
We went for a picnic
This is one of the things
That young people in love a supposed to do
Like walking on a beach by moonlight
After
finding two four leafed clovers
And giving one to her
I commented on her startling resemblance
To my known universe
As
though each blade of grass
Was a single Mayan symbol
Representing a letter in her name
Which even shortened
Is several thousand light years long
And would take my whole life time
Just to pronounce
And
I exclaimed,
"Damn, you're fine. Would you be mine?"
(Apparently I have trouble getting
My simplistic speech patterns to
Match my poetic thoughts)
And
she said,
"Sure, but in a past life
I was someone else's wife
And the pain that I experienced
In my last and most former relationship
May be transferred unwittingly towards you
And may lead us to difficulties
In our new and most cosmic connection"
I said, "I don't care
As long as I can count every star in the sky
By mapping the universe in your hair
And touch you
There"
She
smiled
We had instantly evolved
To a level of non verbal communication
Sometimes
we spoke
But only just for fun
